Felicia Tripp’s dedication to children and SOCIETY stems from her deep belief in restorative justice and community engagement. For her, these values are not just concepts but crucial elements for truly empowering youth. She emphasizes the importance of moving beyond data and statistics to find real solutions that address each child's unique needs and challenges without stigmatizing them.
Felicia grew up in a neighborhood that was 95% Black, where over 70% of school-age children received free school lunch, indicating that most families lived below the poverty line. Despite these challenges, the violent crime rate in her community was low, which is a stark contrast to today's high crime rates in similar socioeconomic areas. One significant difference between then and now is the absence of community programs that were once readily available. When her parents divorced, she and her siblings continued to participate in extracurricular activities thanks to community centers within walking distance that offered activities for everyone.
Felicia’s personal experiences fuel her commitment to SOCIETY’s mission. She knows firsthand the impact of being classified by socioeconomic status and the risk of falling into the school-to-prison pipeline due to misdiagnosed conditions or being unfairly labeled.
She passionately believes in protecting the potential of every child and ensuring they grow into healthy, thriving individuals. Through collective community efforts, Felicia is dedicated to nurturing and empowering youth to reach their full potential, aligning perfectly with SOCIETY’s mission to transform juvenile justice and provide robust community support.

As a teenage mother of two, Carol Moses experienced firsthand the transformative power of community support. Without the unwavering assistance of her family and local community, her outcome could have been very different. Her parents, the children’s grandparents, and even their local community center played vital roles in ensuring that her children not only survived but thrived. Today, they are successful by society's standards, but more importantly, they are happy and actively give back to the community that supported them.
Carol eagerly accepted the opportunity to join SOCIETY's board because she deeply believes in the organization's mission and vision. Her life experiences have shown her the profound impact that community and healthcare support can have on an individual's life. Her niece was born severely premature, and doctors doubted she would lead a fulfilling life, predicting she might never walk or talk. However, thanks to the relentless support of their family and dedicated medical specialists, her niece can walk, talk, run, play, and enjoys a very fulfilling life.
Even when the beginning seems dim and hopeless, the combined support of family, community, and healthcare can create promising outcomes. This belief drives Carol's commitment to SOCIETY and its goals of empowering and supporting youth.
